R&D Collaborations
We sculpt ideas in sound, from atoms to algorithms.
At Sound.Codes, we partner with institutions, labs, and studios to imagine, prototype, and build the next frontier of sonic experience. Whether it hums, resonates, vibrates, listens, learns, or reacts—if it involves sound as a medium of research, interaction, or expression, we bring it to life.
What We Do
Acoustic Intelligence
We work at the convergence of acoustics and computation, embedding sound in systems that learn, adapt, and respond. From ML-driven sound classifiers for smart environments to sonification tools for data-driven storytelling—we turn complex systems into audible insight.
Fabrication & Material Interaction
Our team has deep experience in material-sensitive design—wood, silicone, brass, concrete, textiles, clay—and how they behave under sonic excitation. We prototype enclosures, sculptural instruments, and acoustic interfaces that respond to gesture, pressure, heat, breath, or environmental change.
Custom Hardware & Sensor Design
We develop bespoke audio tools—microphone arrays, embedded sensors, tactile controllers, analog-digital hybrids—for specific research and creative contexts. Projects include:
- Field-ready spatial mic rigs for outdoor installations
- Haptic feedback systems for the hearing-impaired
- Electromagnetic field (EMF) microphones for sonic archaeology
Interactive & Web-Based Instruments
From browser-based synths to networked sound environments, we prototype sonic experiences that live on the web. Our work with WebAudio API, p5.js, and Three.js lets audiences anywhere in the world engage with spatial sound in real-time.
We’ve built tools for:
- Web-native generative compositions
- Collaborative audio-visual installations
- Remote-controlled sound sculptures
Human–Machine Listening
We explore how machines perceive sound—and how humans interact with machines through sonic cues. Our R&D includes:
- Voice-responsive installations
- Real-time pitch-to-MIDI converters for expressive control
- Sonic affect sensing: measuring mood/states through sound and interaction

Why Sound.Codes?
Because we don't treat sound as a byproduct. We treat it as a medium of inquiry, design, and interaction.
Our studio operates like a sonic foundry—a place where acoustics, electronics, code, and culture are forged into tools and experiences. Every project we take on is a fusion of craft, computation, and critical listening.
Collaborate With Us
We’re always open to new challenges—particularly those that require unusual tools, untested ideas, and unlikely materials. If you're designing something no one’s tried before, we're probably the right people to build it.
